Second Tier of Steel Bracing Installed,
Window Lintel Work Continues

During the last week of August, the second and final tier of bracing was installed. This constitutes the upper level of bracing for the building. As it had to be lifted in place by crane, the crane was also used to elevate the stone window lintels for future placement.

Masonry work continued in the vicinity of the window openings. This included installation of four interior wood lintels, the installation of one stone lintel, reinforcing stonework around the perimeter of openings where required and reinforcing mortar injection and pointing where required. (See the 5-31-07 Stabilization Update report for a more detailed discussion on the need for this and remedial techniques.)

Where stone reinforcement work was required, every attempt is made to match the size and arrangement of the courses of stone to those of the adjacent portions of the structure.

It is anticipated that the masonry work should continue into the month of October.
