Take a guided tour through historic Chapman/Beverley Mill and learn about the Civil War history of the mill and the family who operated it in that era. Hear the fascinating history of Chapman's Mill during the Civil War from a "living historian" interpreting Ellen Chapman, the widow of John Chapman. Learn the impact of the war on this important 19th century industrial center and the man who operated it. Additional reenactments will take place. Donations appreciated.

Enjoy an evening of candlelight tours of the historic Chapman/Beverley Mill, 19th century entertainment, living history interpretations of Civil War era life accompanied by hors d'oeuvres, desserts and wine. This adults-only evening at the Chapman/Beverley Mill has a Civil War history emphasis. Call 540-253-5888 for reservations.

Battle of Thoroughfare Gap Commemoration
9:00 am - 7:00 pm with tours at 9:00 am, 11:00 am, 6:00 pm

Tour the ground in the Bull Run Mountains where the Federal defeat led to the dramatic Confederate victory at Second Manassas. Talks will be given by Civil War historians Childs Burden, Jim Burgess and Bruce Slawter. Experience the First Virginia Cavalry Confederate re-enactors. Hear the fascinating history of Chapman's Mill during the Civil War from a "living historian" interpreting Ellen Chapman, the widow of John Chapman. Learn the impact of the war on this important 19th century industrial center and the man who operated it. Also, meet a Union survivor of the Battle of Thoroughfare Gap as interpreted by another "living historian". Donations appreciated.

John Chapman and Col. John S. Mosby - Graveside Commemoration
Historic Warrenton Cemetery, Warrenton, VA
10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Admission: Free

View the gravesites and pay respect to two famous Virginians, John S. Mosby, legendary Confederate soldier and leader was born December 6, 1833. John Chapman, the industrialist who operated historic Chapman's Mill during the Civil War died December 4, 1866. Both are interred in Warrenton Cemetery. After brief graveside ceremonies, adjourn to the Fauquier County Visitors Center for snacks, hot cider and historical gifts holiday shopping. Donations appreciated.
